Yes. Pat Tong is a definite no go area.

Often, the best way to make sure that you can take a guest back to your room is to sing. When you are on the "walk of shame" and your bargain basement Soi 7 reject is in tow singing a Thai song can help if you have the tune right and know the words.

If you are in a slightly "upmarket" hotel, one that has an elevator instead of stairs, this is the only sure fire way to guarantee respect from the staff.

I think he means Pat Pong.

And the demise of Nana Plaze is a little premature! I have met some really nice hard working good Thai gals there.

I don't think he is going to Phuket (yet).

I have never had to pay extra for a vistor in any hotels I have stayed at. Even the ones that required a 100 baht fee for guests. I just walked right in. Any time of day or night.

And if they ever asked, I would just tell them that this gal is my daughter. Or maybe wife. Anyway, I don't pay.

Some hotels do ask for gals ID.

Your best bet, if this is your first trip to Thailand is to have a tatoo placed on your forehead with the words in English: ATM

You'll never have any problems with anybody!
